Travis Hodgson hit 4 three point shots and totaled 24 points to help propel Elwood to a 70-59 win over Amherst. Jonathan Weber scored 16 points, Kolden Hackbart made 12 points, and Spencer Gydesen added 8 points for the Pirates. Gydesen pulled down 12 rebounds and Hodgson had 11 rebounds for Elwood. Amherst was led by Clint Bentley with 13 points, Dillon Halligan with 12 points, and Ty Stevens with 11 points.
Axtell vs. Eustis-Farnam
Eustis-Farnam got 11 points each from Melanie and Melissa Johnson and 9 points from Preston Rieker to take a 40-33 win over Axtell. Tira Redenbaugh added 7 points for the Lady Knights. Rieker had 9 rebounds and 6 steals and Redenbaugh had 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Sara Fecht was the high scorer for Axtell with 11 points and Hailey Kring had 8 points.
Axtell had three players score in double digits to take a 59-45 win from Eustis-Farnam. Dalton Bergstrom scored 22 points to lead the Wildcats with Shafer Fox making 16 points and Jacob Jelden adding 11 points. Logan Purdy was the top scorer for Eusits-Farnam with 10 points. Both Dustin Koch and Jordan Wetovick scored 9 points for the Knights.

Amherst 1st Place at Neligh-Oakdale
Amherst scored 242 points to come away with the 1st place trophy at the Neligh-Oakdale wrestling tournament. Taking first place medals were Logan Dibbern, Devin Dibbern, Tanner Taubenheim, Wyatt Schake, and Kalen Pfieffer. Placing second for the Broncos were Bryan Wietjes, Eric Rasmussen, Kris Rasmussen, and Stuart Hircock. Clayton Dana earned a third place medal.

2012 FKC Basketball Tournament Pairings Set
The Fort Kearny Conference basketball tournaments are set to kick off on Saturday, January 28th. The girls bunny brackets will be played at 6:00 PM, with #8 Elm Creek playing #9 Pleasanton at Amherst, and #7 Elwood playing #10 Wilcox-Hildreth at Wilcox. The boys bunny brackets start at 7:30 PM, with #8 Axtell playing #9 Wilcox-Hildreth at Amherst at Wilcox, and #7 Amherst playing #10 Eustis-Farnam at Amherst.
The 1st round of the 38th annual girls tournament will be played at Loomis and Eustis on Monday, January 30, starting at 6:00 PM. The semifinals move to the Viaero Event Center, in Kearney, on Thursday, February 2, with the finals on Saturday, February 4.
The 1st round of the 57th annual boys tournament will be played at Loomis and Overton on Tuesday, January 31, starting at 6:00 PM. The semifinals move to the Viaero Event Center, in Kearney, on Friday, February 3, with the finals on Saturday, February 4.

Eustis-Farnam vs. SEM
Melanie Johnson scored 22 points and had 8 rebounds to lead the Lady Knights to a 46-24 win over SEM. Andrea Werth made 10 points and had 9 rebounds for Eustis-Farnam, Preston Rieker made 8 points and had 11 rebounds, Melissa Johnson added 6 points and had 7 rebounds. Tabitha Anderson and Shaylee Burr each scored 6 points for the Lady Mustangs and Rachel Ibach and Miranda Pierce each added 5 points.

Eustis-Farnam held the lead after the first period, 15-10, but SEM answered with a 21-6 second quarter to take a 10 point lead into the break. The Mustangs scored 37 in the second half to take a 68-40 win. Dillon Line scored 24 points to lead the Mustangs, Lance English made 13, and John O’Neill added 10 points. Jordan Wetovick scored 18 points to pace the Knights and Austin Boller added 10 points and had 10 rebounds.
